  • I've got those 3 button mice from SGI as I was working with Indy's and O2's. I also have keyboards. Those are real good quality!

Yesterday, I tried to right click and somehow, nothing happened. At first I thought maybe it was X going banana, but trying again and restarting did not change anything. I reset my KVM too, just in case. Still nothing.

  • Several times, you may have been creating views and wondered: how the heck could I add a link to my node Edit page, or if you are like me, my node Outline, Track, Convert pages on top of the Edit page.

    This is actually pretty easy.

To your fields, add a Node: Nid then click the Add button at the bottom.

In the setup of the field, select Rewrite the output of this field and enter the text of the link as it should appear (i.e. 'Edit' or 'Convert'.)

  • Often, when one writes a game, one wants a specific resolution to make sure that the game works as expected. Zoomed out textures may not look as nice and the speed could be affected too (drawing 1280x1024 pixels instead of 640x480 is more than 4x higher and all video boards won't be as fast as required in this case). Under MS-Windows you can ask the system to change resolution (size & depth) with a call to ChangeDisplaySettings().

  • Use at your own risk! These are links to other pages outside of this website:

  • Argh! It happened again and I just couldn't remember the key strokes. And it's hard to find the docs about it so I write my own right here. What's all that about?!

In X11, when you inadvertendly hit "Num Lock" on your keypad while you're holding the Shift key down, you actually turn ON this special Keypad feature: the Keypad becomes a mouse!

Hit Shift + NumLock again, and you get out of that mode (i.e. a toggle)

  • I guess I liked Netscape just way too much... I used Mozilla after Netscape went down and bust, then I continued with SeaMonkey 1.x and now I just finished installing SeaMonkey 2.0.

There are features in this system that are just better than in FireFox. However, SeaMonkey 2.0 is a re-sync. with FireFox 3.x. In other words, this is very similar to FireFox, with the correct display features of the HTML code. But it keeps the menu, preferences and look in general of SeaMonkey. (although the fonts have changed... I'll have to get used to those!?)

  • MS-Windows is extremely flexible. So one of the things you can do is delete your Start menu. It's a good way to prevent people from starting the "wrong" software. Now, without that menu and a few icons, what do you do?!

The Start -> Run menu is accessible using a Window key (held down) and the R key (W-R). This will open the Run window in which you can run all sorts of programs. It is a console reduce to its minimum! (Invented by Microsoft, thank you!)

  • In order to take a screenshot on your Mac OS/X system, simply type "Apple-Shift-3". Then you will see an image on your Desktop. As far as I know you cannot control where the image will go.

There are many other combinaisons that let you select the part of the screen you want a screenshot of.

The name of the file on your dekstop is "Picture #.png" where # increases as required. Although since 10.4 you can change the file format with a Unix command.
